Established in 2018, the shoegaze/dream pop band has come a long way from bedroom songwriting and recording to studio sessions in Golden Hive, the well-known Prague recording studio where the trio finished their debut EP Sad Disco. The band finds a brilliant balance between vintage sound and pop-esque melodies with charismatic vocals.
The main motives of their debut Sad Disco are personal confessions on the difficulties of adolescence and queer relationships, finding the right balance between monogamy and polygamy, and the boundaries of sexuality. Music-wise, the band is often dubbed as early The xx or Cigarettes After Sex. As of 2022, Favorite Obsession is in the songwriting process for their debut LP, together with their new drummer Soto.

Tematicky dávají písně na EP dohromady osobní příběh, který začíná nevěrou (Green Eyes) a končí uvědoměním si, že si ve vztazích lidi ubližují tak trochu naschvál (Cry on Purpose). “Celé EP je propletené queer vztahy, monogamií/polygamií a celkově objevováním hranic sexuality a soužití dvou nebo více osob,” říká ke své tvorbě Karolína.
Ve skladbách Favorite Obsession jsou slyšet zvuky minulých dekád s inspirací ve věhlasných The Beatles s moderními aranžemi podobných The xx nebo Cigarettes After Sex. V roce 2022 se Favorite Obsession odebrali skládat písně pro své debutové album, a to nyní společně i s novým bubeníkem Sotem.
