Okouzlující, extatická hudba protkaná sluncem – tak by se dala charakterizovat kapela Island Mint, která na pražské scéně působí jako zjevení od roku 2021. Kombinace sunshine popu a garage rocku 60. let s odkazy na devadesátkový shoegaze společně s hřejivým analogovým soundem vás vykoupe v oceánu dětské nostalgie. Od rozmarného popu na EP Island Mint (2021) a přes surreální indie album Irreality (2022) kapela frontmana Matyáše Adámka v roce 2023 vydala krautově laděné EP All Studium No Punctum, kde hudba nabyla ostřejších rysů. Sehraná pětičlenná kapela už čtvrtým rokem úspěšně přesvědčuje publika českých i zahraničních klubů a festivalů, že slunce opravdu svítí. Procitnuli k tomu i porotci Czechingu Radia Wave, kteří kapelu vyslali na Eurosonic Noorderslag 2024 jako nejrelevantnější projekt na současné mladé české scéně.
Mesmerizing, sun-drenched and heartwarming, the music of Island Mint is a rare occurrence on the Prague music scene. Inspired by 60s sunshine pop and garage rock as well as 90s shoegaze, their warm analog sound will make you feel like you're swimming in an ocean of childlike nostalgia. Starting with the whimsical EP Hazy Days (2020) and developing with the surreal indie album Irreality (2022), the music took on sharper features on the band’s latest release – the krautrock infused EP All Studium No Punctum (2023). For the past four years, the five-piece led by lead singer and producer Matyáš Adámek has been successfully convincing Czech and Slovak audiences that the sun does indeed shine. The international jury of Radio Wave’s Czeching Contest 2023 approved this fact, sending the band to Eurosonic Noorderslag 2024 as the most relevant project on the current young Czech scene.
